Why video is a safeguard, not a guarantee
Seeing and hearing someone on a live video call before you meet in person is one of the strongest safeguards against fakes and scammers. It is much harder to hide behind a stolen photo when the other person can ask you to wave, smile, or answer a question live. That said, a video call is not a guarantee of character or intent.
