The trust problem
Half the anxiety of meeting someone online is a single question: is this person actually who they say they are? Stolen photos, AI faces, and recycled profiles have made that doubt the default. It shouldn't be.
Verification, built in
HoopFrog checks six things: phone, email, age, photos, an optional live selfie, and a friend's vouch. A phone number, confirmed by text code, is required before anyone can like or message. Three of those checks deserve a closer look:
- The live selfie, optional. A quick live selfie is matched against profile photos, so the person in the pictures is very likely the person you're talking to.
- Photo moderation. Every profile photo is screened before it goes live to reduce recycled or inappropriate images.
- Age assurance. HoopFrog is strictly 18+. At sign-up we ask for your date of birth, and we run additional age verification where it's required by law.
Look for the checks
We can't guarantee anyone is who they say. What we can do is add real checks that make impersonation much harder and make it far more likely the person is who they claim. Every profile shows what has been checked (phone, email, age, photos, the optional live selfie, and a friend's vouch) and adds it up in a public Trust Score, so you know at a glance who has been through them. Trust stops being a total guess and becomes something you can actually weigh, before you ever say hello.
