Safety built in from the start
HoopFrog was designed with safeguards from the start. Sign-up asks for a date of birth, a confirmed phone number is required before anyone can like or message, and members can add an optional live selfie check. No check is perfect, but together they give you more to go on.
Controls you can use
- Block and report, built in. If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can block them or report them, and reports are reviewed by people.
- See before you meet. Optional video greetings let you see and hear someone before deciding to connect. It is one more signal to weigh, not proof of who they are.
- Encrypted messages. Your messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, and our Privacy Policy sets out what we collect and why.
- Scam-pattern detection. Behind the scenes, automated detection looks for common scam patterns in messages, and people review what gets escalated.
Connection is mutual
Connection on HoopFrog is built around mutual interest and consent, and you decide who you keep talking to. Safety is not an add-on here. It shapes how the rest of the app is built.
